Welcome!!!

My Artist name is Sooch, born and raised in Muscat, Oman; a safe, welcoming and beautiful place in the Middle East.

I lived most of my life in Muscat, but I did spend summers as a kid in London, university in Nashville, and my postgraduate in Melbourne.

I played the saxophone in the school band as a kid and while the guitar was present throughout my youth, I never really got into playing it till I was 17. That’s when I bought myself my first guitar, and I started nailing down my chords. It was the summer after I graduated from high school that I wrote my first song. That is “Just to be with you,” a song that came out in an hour.

From then on I started writing songs as though it was another medium for me to express myself. I captured moments, I wrote to remind myself of certain thoughts, values and feelings. I wrote to say I love you, and I wrote to appreciate the small things and blessings around me.

I wrote quite a bit from 2000 to 2011, and in 2011 I had the opportunity of meeting Andrew McCubbin, in Melbourne, Australia. At the time, I thought to myself, I want to leave something behind and actually do something more with my music. Andrew had good connections with some studios and musicians in Melbourne and so he helped me materialize my dream.

Soon after recording “Sunshine on Canvas” in 2011, I headed back to Oman and delved into the real world. To my surprise I literally picked up the guitar a handful of times between 2012 and 2018. In mid 2018, I once again started writing music and by November 2019 I was ready to record once again. This time I was able to raise a bit of money to pay for some of the costs associated to studio recording. I raised over $6,000 from friends, family, and some fans and I am humbled by their support.

“Hollow Saint, Love & Something Else” was the next album, recorded in Melbourne. When you listen to it, you will notice the growth both musically and lyrically.

You could describe my music under the genres of folk, soft rock, acoustic, singer-songwriter, but it is music that speaks to the soul, calms the mind and contains deep and meaningful lyrics.

Since then, I’ve been growing my fan base and I have been writing more music. I feel there is progression in my new writing and I look forward to the next time I can record in a studio!!!
